Your job

We are hoping to find somebody to handle claims in adherence with the mission statement, guidelines and operating standards of the Company and to be provide and support the operational and technical supervision of the Professional and Financial claims units

The person in this role will provide a professional claims service to all the operating Companies and Business Units to process their claims. You will need to work with the Head of Claims - Large Single Risks to ensure we apply the accurate level of technical resource on all claims

Key Responsibilities:

• Verify and settle claims
• Investigate and negotiate claims where required
• Influence the handling and settlement of claims by insurer and insured clients
• Check case reserves and ensure adequate provision is made for outstanding liabilities
• Nurture relationships with brokers, cedants and clients
• Conduct audits and due diligence where required
• Contribute to discussions about legal, political and market developments that may impact claims
• Provide feedback to underwriters from a claims perspective and keep underwriters informed of all large or contentious claims as and when they arise
• Build and maintain Groups reputation as technical guides and market leaders on claims related issues
• Provide technical and operational support to the Head of Claims - Large Single Risks
• Optimise the use of the resources at your disposal to ensure claims standards are adhered to
• Monitor the performance of the claims technicians within your area of responsibility to ensure they adhere to Group guidelines and procedures. Where this is not the case instigate plans to correct any deficiencies
• Provide and ensure support to other members of the team and on other classes of business where required

Your profile

Key Skills & Experience:

Ideally we would like to find somebody with proven experience in both direct and reinsurance business controlling medium – high value claims, the ability to analyse and set reserves along with experience of technical referral.

Proficient knowledge of MR claims guidelines processes and operating standards is critical to the role.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:

A relevant degree or equivalent work experience

Being legally qualified or having your ACII is not critical to this role, but would be useful
