Database Analyst


Solomon, the leading performance improvement company for the global energy industry, is seeking candidates for a Database Analyst position to work in a dynamic, fast-paced business environment. This position will be based in the Dallas office and the Database Analyst’s responsibilities include the following:
  • Implement new benchmarking calculations and methodology into SQL databases across 21 benchmarking studies.
  • Support and modify SQL databases for data production for benchmarking studies, as well as develop and implement SQL methodology calculations.
  • Work with Studies Delivery Analysts to build and improve processes and data flow through the databases.
  • Troubleshoot calculation and data flow issues in Solomon systems.
  • Work with the Studies and Product Data Advisor, as well as the Cloud Data Warehouse Architect to migrate on-premises databases to the cloud and restructure the data as needed.
  • Utilize mathematics, data analysis and SQL skills to implement complex equations and calculations into TableValue functions and Stored Procedures.
  • Support Data Analysts and the Studies and Product Data Advisor to implement, modify and troubleshoot complex data calculations and data functions.
  • Deliver advanced data analysis for custom client engagements, special projects, and follow-up work. Support client engagements with special data analysis and data calculations as required by the advisors.
  • Provide Data Management and Cleansing: Design, develop and implement data quality checks for Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) processes and projects in order to deliver clean reliable data to the client while maintaining client confidentiality.
  • Provide initial implementation of new studies and methodologies. Support the design and development of data structures, intermediate calculations and report tables/view/functions in cooperation with other internal sources.


  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Mathematics, Science or other technical degree
Work Experience
  • 5+ years’ experience SQL Development and data management
  • 5+ years’ experience in ETL processes using multiple tools including SQL, SSIS or other tools.
Technical Skills
  • Experience in SQL Server systems management and optimization
  • Able to provide advanced data and economics analysis
  • Possesses strong skills in Microsoft® Excel®, SQL and other database and analysis tools
  • Skilled at using data analytics methods and tools
  • General understanding of accounting, timekeeping, and business data tracking
  • Experience in statistical models
  • Experience in Snowflake, PostrgreSQL and other cloud database systems
Non-Technical Skills
  • Possesses excellent time management skills and an eye for detail
  • Experience in the Oil and Gas industry
