Primary Objectives:
The Nuclear Inspector will be working within the province of New Brunswick and will perform inspections as required by the Canadian Standards Association(CSA) and American Society of Mechanical Engineering Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (ASME Code) at a operating Nuclear Power Plant. The individual will operate with minimal supervision, exercising independent judgement in assuring Code and Regulatory compliance. The Nuclear Inspector position is home-based with travel to designated site.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections in accordance with the CSA N285.4, N285.5, and N285.7, American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III, and National Board Inspection Code at an operating nuclear power plant.
- Perform third party oversite at the nuclear site, focusing on equipment related to boiler/reactor safe operations, as well as the design, fabrication, or inspection of high-pressure boilers and pressure vessels.
- Provide detail review and observations of inspections and examinations performed by the plant personnel., and other related tasks as required.
- Oversee site management to ensure compliance with safety standards and achieve safety goals.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in maintenance/operations related to boiler/reactor systems, including the design, fabrication, or inspection of high-pressure boilers and pressure vessels.
- High school diploma required; a background in Mechanical Engineering or Nuclear Programs is a strong asset. College degree can reduce the years of experience required.
- Basic understanding of welding and non-destructive examination.
- Basic algebra skills are necessary.
- This role requires physical capability to move within a nuclear facility, including navigating confined spaces, standing for extended periods, lifting equipment up to 25 lbs, climbing, working at heights, and withstanding temperature variations. Candidates must also have 20/20 vision (corrected) and the ability to hear equipment operations clearly.
- Successful candidates must pass a background screening to gain access to a nuclear facility.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel to client site.
