Market Research Specialist (m/f/d) *

Sitting within the marketing team and you will be responsible for conducting market and customer research in support of an ‘outside in’ approach to identifying new products, markets, concept testing, customer experience and supporting measurement efforts of HSB.

To be successful, we need you to have a good understanding of the research landscape, data management, creative thinking and an ability to find the right solution.

You will serve as a mentor to enable the organisation to identify the need for customer insights and testing, and ensure colleagues can understand, interpret, and apply customer insights to the business. In addition, you will collaborate with cross-functional HSB teams globally and research firms to propose the best solutions for the business.


  • Identifying research requirements, the tests to-be-done to understand user wants and needs, conduct tests, interpret the results, translate results so they are understood by working teams, and advocate from the customer perspective.
  • Recommending and executing exploratory research to derive insights assessing both broad and specific market trends, opportunities, concept appeal, and support thought leadership of HSB in the market.
  • Providing analysis and undertaking research to identify opportunities and support business decisions including:
    • Product and market analysis
    • Trends and insights
    • Customer insights (supporting journey mapping)
    • Competitive intelligence
    • Using insights at the onset of product and service development and throughout the process
    • Monitoring customer sentiment
  • Translating market research data and insights into key takeaways and actionable recommendations that will help drive business decisions.
  • Developing relationships with and working understanding of departmental strategic objectives to support research agenda.
  • Providing the business with insights into key trends and future developments.
  • Building a fully vetted research partner/vendor list that enables B2B and B2C research.
  • Establish a framework for executing an ongoing consumer and broker insights research practice that gets HSB closer to the customer on an ongoing basis.


  • Proactively supporting the marketing team and wider business with research outputs for projects
  • Working with our Data & Analytics team to analyse data and derive meaningful client, and product insights.
  • Working with the customer experience team and business to develop customer insights research programmes.
  • Building effective relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally.


  • Demonstratable experience of conducting qualitative/quantitative research
  • Experience working in or with the insurance industry preferred
  • Experience in designing research plans, programmes and delivering results
  • Experience in both primary and secondary research approaches
  • Experience with wide range of research methodologies, quantitative, qualitative, ethnographic, attitudinal and behavioral research, usability testing
  • Experience with customer experience measurements including (NPS, cSAT, CES, trackers) a plus
  • Excellent research, detail orientation and creative problem-solving skills
  • Adaptable, self-motivated, and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to achieve results by taking a proactive approach
  • Ability to develop and foster relationships with key internal stakeholders
  • Strong team player, able to contribute in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment
  • Able to work to tight deadlines and manage projects independently to time and budget
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy

Qualifications & Educational Requirements: 

  • Professional qualifications in marketing or market research
  • 5 years+ of relevant work experience conducting qualitative/quantitative research
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), research and analytics tools.
