The Opportunity
The Senior IT Technical Data Specialist (MRSI Data and Reporting) reports to the Head of Systems transformation and will provide leadership in developing the MRSI data and reporting platform.
He / She will provide technical solutions for analyzing data, especially to investigate, evaluate and interpret data by the business.
He / she will be responsible for owning and managing the technical solution of data acquisition and ingestion, data integration and processing, data storage, and provisioning to MRSI business analytics and operations. He / She will also be responsible for the development of respective data applications to provide the required functionality, including application maintenance and support services.
He / She will work with the MRSI architecture team to lead various enterprise data management and reporting projects. He/ She will be responsible for delivering data integration, data quality, data warehouse to support various business reporting and analytics needs. He / She will work on solutions and technical documentation to support data lifecycle management, including security and operational compliance needs.
He / she will work collaboratively with the IT Project Managers as well as the Delivery Management Service Center to coordinate workloads and ensure quality work products aligned to Munich Re IT standards.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, customize, and test complex data applications to fulfill functional requirements, considering architecture guidelines.
- Analyzes data requirements and provides data analysis techniques, and applies data modeling and data quality techniques to establish, modify or maintain data structures and their associated components in complex environments
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and defined Azure-based technologies to extend the global big data and analytics platform
- Design and develop data components using Azure cloud-based services in accordance with IT security requirements.
- Consults with data and operations team regarding future enhancement of data models.
- Supports relevant analysis (data exploration and statistical modeling).
- Design control processes to enable leadership to make strategic decisions and undertake tactical measures where necessary to protect MRSI’s interests.
- Participate in and support internal and external application security and compliance audits
- Collaborate across Munich Re to ensure consistency of design and implementation of data platforms, products and features built into products.
- Own end-to-end solution delivery on the data modernization programs
- Identify metrics and key health indicators of portfolio, program, and project operations.
- Supports the design of data architecture and related interfaces. Coaches ETL Developers in software development capabilities
- Steers and controls the integration build, accepts software modules from Developers, and produces software builds for loading into the target environment
- Develop processes and standards to support data management improvement initiatives
Your profile
Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or equivalent experience
- 7+ Years of total IT experience with and relevant experience in analysis, design , development of data warehousing and reporting platforms
- Outstanding technical competency with relevant experience in data integration, data governance, creation of databases and warehouse architecture.
- Insurance industry experience preferred – ideally in primary insurance.
- Hands-on leadership role which would involve playing the technical lead, delivery lead, and data solution lead
- Experience of mass ingestion process, data quality and master data management
- Experience with BI/reporting tools like PowerBI
- Experience with multiple data technology stacks (Azure ADF, MapReduce etc., Snowflake)
- Understanding data related security challenges
- Experience in transitioning data and BI technologies from on-prem to Hybrid/Cloud environments
- Experience with Agile delivery frameworks (e.g. Scrum, SAFe) a major plus.
- High Technical Aptitude in Cloud Technologies with professional-level certification on a public Cloud is highly desirable.

- Excellent verbal and written communication coupled with negotiation skills.
- Ability to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment, dealing with ambiguity.
