This role will work in a network of home insurance underwriters and will be responsible for the underwriting and product development for home insurance portfolios for affinity type transactions; it will also be responsible for the monitoring and amendment of existing products and for individual case referrals.
Lead in the development of Household insurance products (innovative and more standard) in order to provide a solution for partner needs, with a primary focus on affinity transactions in the UK Household market
Lead the policy wording and underwriting requirements in the context of partner relationships
Coordinate underwriting and policy writing work with carriers and partners in ambitious timelines
Ensure that divisional and Group wide U/W guidelines and risk appetite is adhered to
As a subject matter authority in UK Household Insurance, guide partners in general insurance procedures (including regulatory, underwriting, process requirements) and product design
Work alongside actuaries to review rating and make amendments where appropriate
Work with the Carrier to ensure adherence to applicable regulations and statutes
Account management and maintenance after initial roll out, including monthly monitoring and intervention where required
Establish M.I. requirements in order to provide effective underwriting monitoring across partners and the wider MRDP Household portfolio
Deliver change in line with expectations of time, budget, benefits, risk
Communicate regularly with all internal and external partners and manage stakeholder needs, providing expertise on relevant requirements
Work across other areas of the business to support joint initiatives where required
Plus any additional duties and responsibilities that may reasonably be expected to be undertaken in accordance with the role
Expected skills & experience
- Excellent knowledge and expertise of UK Household portfolios covering UW, product development, policy wording and account management (at least 5 years experience) ideally on affinity type transactions
- Knowledge of insurance processes and systems
- Hands on new product design and launch experience, as well as post-live monitoring
- Demonstrable experience of UW and reliable judgement of risk
- Exhibit detailed understanding of end-to-end process requirements in general insurance
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with a focus on delivery
- Strong communication, facilitation, presentation & numerical skills
- Ability to build and sustain strong working relationships with a variety of internal and external partners
Typical qualifications for this role
University degree and/or equivalent education in the insurance industry.
Ideally Dip CII or working towards.
